Pigmentary Uveitis
  • Wednesday, October 23, 2013 3:00 pm - 4:30m pm
  • What is it? What can we do about it? Do we know it’s genetic and when will we have a test?
  • If you hear about pigmentary uveitis, do you know what is really happening inside the eye? Do you know the treatments? Do you know what it means for those bloodlines? Drs. Wendy Townsend, a veterinary ophthalmologist, and Kari Ekenstedt, a veterinary geneticist, will provide the answers to those questions. Dr. Townsend will explain the changes in the eye that happen with pigmentary uveitis and what that means for the dog’s vision long-term. She will also discuss current treatment option and possible risk factors. Dr. Ekenstedt will discuss what we currently know regarding the genetics of pigmentary uveitis and the studies we are currently undertaking to locate potential causative gene(s).
  • Please join us on Wednesday October 23rd at 3 pm in the Seminar Room at the Exhibit Hall as two of the experts in the research of Pigmentary Uveitis offer this presentation to our Golden Retriever community.

$20 per person; pay at the door.
Proceeds in excess of expenses will be donated to PU Research.
